Jim Marshall, the famous rock photographer, passed away in his sleep. His book ‘Match Prints” was just released and a media event was scheduled this date in New York City.
When I was putting the website together, I wanted to be sure I gave the right people credit for their work. I was pretty sure Jim Marshall had taken this photo of ‘Copperhead‘ but I wanted to be sure. I called Jim up and he invited me to his home and to lunch. He was so taken that he had credit for the photo, he had this photo blown up, signed it, and had it delivered to my home. It was so thoughtful of him. RIP Jim.
Jim McPherson was a rising star in the Bay Area music scene of the '70s and early '80s. He passed away after a long illness in 1985. We always wondered what happened to him. Jim Marshall was an incredible and talented photographer. However, we are not alone when we say that unfortunately he had a very mean streak that alienated a lot of people. We refused to allow him admission to many of our events, or use his services, because of his tendancy toward combative behaviour. What a waste.
